Skittles' Diary

My Dearest Diary,Big Skittles eating dog
September 30, 2000

What a day!!! I was almost eaten by a big mean dog today and then later a foam peanut lunged at me!

Mommy took me out for a walk today and some not so smart human had their dog outside and well, it wasn't on a leash. It took one look at me and thought "lunch." Luckily for me, mommy and I were still pretty close to the door, so she scooped me up and we made a mad dash inside. My little heart was beating a mile a minute. That's fast for a cat you know. Mommy was very upset. I think she was upset because the human didn't have the dog on a leash, and that gave it the chance to hurt me. Some humans just don't understand. They make those retractable and locking leashes for a reason. It gives a pet a sense of freedom, but allows the human to still be the one who is ultimately in control. Sheesh!

Well, the pictures came. Mommy had some of the digital camera prints printed out. She got them done for free. I must say, they came out quite nice. Here's one of the pictures. She found this one so amusing. She said I could autograph them and send them to my fans. I think she was kidding. I hope she was kidding. It's sooo embarrassing! I hope she doesn't send them out around the holiday season!

Well, mommy and daddy went out and came home late. That meant, I got fed late! I was not happy. They went grocery shopping. I heard some nice sounds when they were putting them away. I heard some canned food, and also what I believed to be a can of pounce. I'm not sure, because it went into the cabinet so fast. I think it was. I can't wait to find out!

Daddy and I played laser tag in the evening. That was fun. However, daddy kept putting the paper bag on my head every time I stuck my head in it while it was on the floor. I think he thought it was funny. Boy was he wrong!

I had a little incident with some static electricity and a styrofoam peanut. I like to bat the styrofoam peanut around usually. (Some cats will eat it, so humans always have to be very careful) I went to go through my usual habit of sniff then play, but instead when my fur got to close to the peanut, it decided to lunged up and attach to my face. I was rather distraught and thrashed my head about feverishly. It finally let go, and I gave it the look of you know what! Of course it was just the static in my fur that attracted it to me, but it scared the purr out of me! I think I'm going to avoid any styrofoam peanuts for a while. Just to be safe.

I just realized something. If mommy and daddy go overseas for a little while, someone will have to take care of me! I heard they keep animals in quarantine for a long time if they go overseas. I don't want to be in quarantine! I want to be nice and safe with my cams and my beds. Fluffy and nice. Yes, that's it. Keep the fluff. Maybe they just won't go at all and everything will be ok!

Alright, I'm sleepy. I am going to sleep now. Goodnight diary.
